High Background Signal

Symptom
Elevated background noise across the ELISA plate making it difficult to distinguish specific signals from non-specific binding
Common Causes
  1. 1 Insufficient washing between steps
  2. 2 Inadequate number of wash cycles
  3. 3 Missing soak steps during washing procedure
Solutions
  1. 1 Follow proper washing procedure as outlined in ELISA Development Guide page 4
  2. 2 Increase the number of wash cycles
  3. 3 Add a 30-second soak step between washes
